1. Moderate softening point, low viscosity at room temperature, good mixing and wetting properties, and easy coating of aggregate particles with pitch. Production can be carried out at a mixing temperature of 130-150℃, requiring less equipment and consuming less energy.
2. High volatile matter content, with gradual decomposition of pitch during the self-baking process and a large sintering range. It is well-suited for low-load, open furnace, and low-temperature submerged arc furnaces.
3. Raw materials are readily available, resulting in low procurement costs and a mature formula.
1. Low Coking Value: Less residual carbon after asphalt pyrolysis results in poor density and low compressive strength of the sintered electrode, making it prone to soft breakage in high-load electric furnaces.
2. High Volatile Content: A large amount of gas is released during sintering, leading to numerous pores inside the electrode, higher resistivity, and increased power consumption.
3. Poor High-Temperature Thermal Stability: Premature softening and flow of the asphalt during temperature increases in the upper part of the furnace easily induces electrode hanging, a defect particularly pronounced in closed furnace conditions.
4. Low β-Resin Content: Insufficient high-temperature bonding skeleton results in weak oxidation resistance and accelerated consumption of the electrode under high-current, high-load conditions.
Rongxing Electrode Paste has been dedicated to the research of medium-temperature asphalt and modified asphalt in electrode paste manufacturing. Modified asphalt is the core binder material for upgrading sealed electrode paste, and its greatest advantages are solving the problem of paste hanging, improving the strength of the electrode after sintering, and reducing smelting power consumption. However, on the production side, it is necessary to simultaneously increase the mixing temperature and aggregate preheating temperature, and optimize the entire paste preparation process parameters. In the later stage, the ratio of the two can be dynamically adjusted according to the furnace type, load, and electrode lowering speed of the submerged arc furnace to achieve the optimal balance among electrode sintering rate, high-temperature strength, and production cost.
