1. Cylindrical joint, four cylindrical joint processing is simple and high machining efficiency, using the cylindrical joint even if affected by vibration and loose button back soon enough, also won't fall, connection thread back still can continue to use 2 ~ 3 laps, Jue suspension electrode two mites joint every inside and outside the wall thickness, joint hole site overall intensity is small, easy expansion stress resulting from drum coupling burst.
It is more difficult to protect the cylindrical joint from the hole of the electrode joint. Generally, it takes about 10 turns to tighten it.
2. Conical joint, conical joint processing technology requirements are higher, processing efficiency is lower than cylindrical joint.
When using the conical connector, the electrode and the connector can be tightened by twisting the connector into the electrode connector hole for 2~3 times.
However, if the machining accuracy is poor, tightening torque is insufficient, the joint is loose after vibration, as long as the back 2~3 times, the joint or the lower electrode will fall off.
The biggest advantage of the conical joint is that the longitudinal section of the hole wall of the electrode joint is tapered (thin outer wall, thick inner wall), the overall strength is large, not easy to be burst, the middle diameter of the joint is large, not easy to be broken (or broken).
The use of conical joint such as the joint bolt and other measures, the connection parts of the loose or the joint was pulled (or broken) phenomenon can be significantly reduced.
In the process of steelmaking, the lower end of the electrode formed a cone due to oxidation and slag erosion, and the residual body on the end of the electrode cone was easy to fall when the cylindrical connector was used, which increased the electrode consumption.
And in the use of conical joint, due to the geometry of the joint is a double cone, not easy to drop.
The quality is basically the same product, the ordinary power large specification graphite electrode USES the conical connector and is equipped with the connector bolt, the graphite electrode consumption per ton of furnace steel is reduced by 10%~15% compared with the use of cylindrical connector.
Therefore, in the 1980s, most of the large and medium size graphite electrodes produced by domestic and foreign carbon factories processed conical joints, while a few carbon factories are still processing cylindrical joints.
